has anyone ever won anything at slots (in physical life not online)?

I hit $500 the first time in Buloxi and didn't realize I had won, thought the machine was broken. Then a lady came over and said "Would you like that in hundreds?" Huh? Yes please!

The next time was $2k in Vegas. Both times it was the first night I arrived and I was tired and delirious. That's my strategy now.

$500 in Vegas ($400 one night, then $100 the next day on the same machine). $1000 on a video poker machine in a bar in town. I don't play slots anymore, but yes it is possible.

The odds are always are always in the house's favor with gambling, that's why they do it. You can win though, but how lucky do you feel? Some people win but most people lose.

I've won but I keep feeding it back into the machine until I lose it all again.

There is one review besides mine on TO and a comment to my posting. If you go back through the posts from today on the forum you'll see there is another worker reported getting 12 rejects (Rose did communicate with her, but reportedly, not nicely). This HIT is apparently for Rose's PHD dissertation: Explainable Recommendations; Rose Catherine Kanjirathinkal; School of Computer Science Carnegie Mellon University Pittsburgh, PA 15213; Thesis Committee: Prof. William W. Professor Cohen is no longer at CMU having taken a position at Google.

Thank you so much. I guess all I can do is try to not stress until my rejections come in. I did them all precisely s I did for the qual though. So if I get a ton of rejections I will most certainly be communicating with her department head. Appreciate the information. She sure isn't going to illicit better work by not communicating what the issues with the work are Did she approve any of your work at all post qual....balls.

It was me who got rejections and a few very unfriendly responses from her. 11 rejections out of 62, she said there were a total of 38 I supposedly did wrong but she approved because "I made a good attempt, but still missed the mark" - honestly I think it's BS, I write for a living AND am a grad student despite my casualness on a forum. She also made a few snarky comments - not sure if it is against rules to post the whole email on here. Not sure what exactly Carnegie Mellon was looking from her having yelp reviews rewritten but I'd certainly like to give someone a piece of my mind for the way she speaks to people participating in her dissertation.

Not sure what exactly Carnegie Mellon was looking from her having yelp reviews rewritten but I'd certainly like to give someone a piece of my mind for the way she speaks to people participating in her dissertation.

I saw somewhere she posted there would be 10,000 and $8k worth of HITs in the project over a few days, so I doubt it's done already.

she sent me my stats which were 13 correct/38 wrong/11 rejected which is literally mind blowing & said
"The ones marked wrong are those that looked like the MTurker made a good attempt, but still missed the mark - so those are paid out, but still unusable for our purposes.
The ones marked reject are those that appear like no effort has been made - these are not paid out.
I am quite surprised that you did 60+ when all we required was 5.
The wrong and rejected ones were re uploaded and completed by other workers. So, unfortunately, at this point, there is not much I can do. Thanks for the feedback on the HITs."

I actually spent a ton of time on each one, even though I made the error of not switching every "I" to "you" which is why I thought her answer is BS. The fact that she was surprised I did 60+ when they only required 5? I mean, the snark was unnecessary. Why allow people to do more than 5 if you're going to have so many that are unusable? As I said earlier, I write for a living aside from going to grad school in the evenings so her response to my work is pretty shocking.

So you did the qual hits only? Regardless, she tells you you missed the mark but not how you did so. She needs to provide you and all of us a reasonable standard for accepting or rejecting work.

Yup, over the weekend, I haven't seen any more show up. And yes you're right, I didn't realize that but she didn't provide anything that I did wrong. I realized after I did some that I didn't change the "I" to "you" and actually reached out immediately before she approved/rejected anything but didn't get a response until after the rejections started. She didn't say anything about that either.

You can post the email, just not identifiable information. Usually we do it to clarify work or show bonuses, but I don't know why a negative interaction would be any different, so long as we are judicious in how we deal with the information. I'm so sorry you had that experience. All of mine are just staring at me and taunting me. I wonder if anyone contacted her department, perhaps this is why mine are stalled. I am a doctoral candidate, so I am pretty certain that I completed them within the set of regulations given, but I am not super human either. Itchy reject fingers go on my block list. I assumed, perhaps incorrectly, that a smooth qual experience would result in a smooth batch for a week or so. I have not noticed the hits being posted again either. Hopefully, if she is not getting what she is looking for, she will reach out, communicate, rework the hit. If I get rejections I will probably suggest that she reach out via one of the forums to communicate with the worker base regarding common mistakes and what she is really seeking. I have a hard time believing that multiple workers with high stats decided to perform hits in a totally shit manner out of the blue.

This is exactly what I am hoping. I guess we just wait it out over the next few days, that should let us know how this will play out. I'm not completing any more of them until all of mine are approved. I have a 99.99 approval rate, 1 rejection. I'm not looking to waste my breathing room on batch work

@jmr I'm surprised the qual HITs were rejected. I would assume they would all be accepted and you just wouldn't get the qualification to do more work. I think her "surprise" towards the 60+ was that she only intended for workers to do a few, just to keep their percentage above the required and get the qualification for the future work. One person doing 60 quals means that other people couldn't do those quals... does that make sense? It could have easily been avoided on the requester end with a cap. That said, I do remember seeing "never" to use "I". I'm sorry you tried to reach out and she wasn't understanding
