huh? I claim a percentage of my internet bill, I claimed my new work computer when I first got it, and I'm going to claim my computer repair bills for this year. There isn't a minimum.
yea, sorry but you probably want to talk to a tax specialist. unless you claim more then the standard deductible, you can't claim any deductions.

I have my taxes done for me every year, and every year that's what they've said. I don't do them myself.

Thank you!

And I work in what's basically a mental health hospital, that is specifically for people with mental/physical disabilities. Well, hospital might not be quite right... It operates under the premise of developing learning plans for around 500 individuals, who live on campus. Basic life skills, like eating correctly, doing your own laundry, brushing your teeth etc etc.

Of course, I work the graveyard shift (Midnight - 8AM), so most of my night is folding laundry and looking at reddit. So basically what I do at home, but getting paid for it!
Sounds like an interesting work environment. :) And Welcome to the forum!

im sure different states have different rules as well though in california you can also claim your workspace and youll get money back for rent!
generally you're not supposed to claim something if it isn't 80-100%. If you don't soley use it for work. Like my ex couldn't claim his home office that he used 40-60 hours a week for work because he also had his gaming setup in there.

I only added $2500 in mturk earning to my salary, but lost $1200 ( i usually get 1200-1600 back every single year, regardless of my income somehow lol) in returns. Owe state. Sigh.

I'm reading the other comments now, but my ex's tax preparer said at least here he couldn't claim home office status.

Yeah the changes hit hard on the union side deduction wise. Dues, mileage, assessments, tools all went out the window. Mileage alone would have been a 12k deduction for 2018.
