how many people here even pay in cash?
I have bought things in cash that people would normally finance. You can get some odd looks. Even have people that are baffled that you want to pay for something. I walked out of two car dealerships because they asked me repeatedly what I wanted my payments to be. Housing oddly enough really wasn't as problematic. They never asked for anything except proof that I had the funds.

If you pay cash in full they won't give a fuck about your credit or employment or whatever. Probably wouldn't even run a background check.
depends on how much cash. depositing high cash amounts to your bank, they are going to want to know where the money comes from. anything over $10k is an automatic red flag.

I used to be a cash guy and would grab $100 or whatever from the ATM every week or so for lunch, beer, little stuff like that. Not for a few years now though.

There are the 'know your customer' and other requirements to buy a house and other things, especially since 9/11. You can buy a house with cash if you want, but you'll need to take it to a financial institution to do it, and they'll know who you are for sure. :)

My partner is a finance manager, and I remember him saying that anything over XXXX dollars in cash they're required to report to the IRS or get a cashiers' check, instead, for that reason. It's gotta have a trail.

I’m not saying mTurk is a great gig, but just because your man swings an axe doesn’t mean all other women like that

yep. in a few different ways. if you are even under the threshold of the amount , and they suspect something suspicious, they report it anyway.
