The crazy part is it's our tree but the person responsible is whose yard it falls in. So technically we should get our insurance to cover taking out the tiny little bit that's on our side of the fence and the other three neighbors would have to get their insurance to pay for removal of the bits on their property. Hopefully it doesn't have to be that complicated though and it can all go through the neighbors with the biggest piece in their yard.Whoa

It feels like it SHOULD go to the tree owners (us) but the law/insurance says no and these are the 90 year old couple that we visit with our kids all the time and they're sweet little old people that need help from people (us) that have the internetThat seems weird to me, but if I were in your situation I'd be like
