you can't bring up alcohol and not expect people to share their stories :p

I need to consume more coffee before doing some of these surveys. I've returned $5 worth of them so far because I realized halfway through that I was moving sliders the wrong way making my answers ridiculously confusing.

Yeah 50k seems huge for a rural area. The town I live in now is probably like 600. I've never actually paid attention. Town before that was like 14k, and before that, another town of like 800. I would never call 50k a rural area. That's huge.

yeah, the place I used to live in was about 4oo. I literally can't imagine living somewhere with 50k people, there's no way that's rural lol

I grew up in an 80k+ that I consider urban... still wouldn't consider 50k rural, lol.

Yeah, that standard is kind of strange. When I lived in south Florida, it's like one big city from Jupiter to south of Miami, and each one of those little towns on the way probably each have 50k or less people but I would hardly consider it rural. I think a better gauge would be "how many cows surround your town?" Or "can you smell freshly spread manure on a warm day?"

lmfao yeah, much more accurate. or maybe "how many grocery stores and/or gas stations are within 15 minutes of you"

Lmao yeah that's about right. I live in Illinois now so I haven't came across farms as much as when I lived in Wisconsin. When I lived in Wisconsin, it was all rural towns and I was always passing a farm and seeing cows.

I live in a town of 12000 right now. But I'm so-not the small town girl. I grew up in NY and then lived in Tally for years (I considered Tally to be small town). And though where I live now is rural, I'm just above the border from MA - so I can get to a city pretty quick.

But to the researcher: I think that it's hard to make generalizations based on a survey of rural folks when, me for instance, - isn't anything close to that.
Also, to researchers in general - don't assume that you have more clinical expertise than I. (Unless you're a clinician with 30 years experience, you don't).

Okay, spring cleaning time..................
