haha i know exactly what you mean. Also, my hair, the same, but yet I still found it necessary to perm it
'back then'. And actually, being the not particularly coordinated person that I am, it was actually a tossup between a motorcycle and drums.
I'm thinking maybe drums might be a good choice.

I had Marcia Brady straight hair until my 20s. About the age of 22 it decided to go curly. Not sure why. But it is what it is now. Prior to that, I was Queen of Spiral Perms.

Now I'm glad it's curly as gray hair is kind of not straight so it blends right in!
