"I'm not a believer that one should be able to earn minimum wage by filling out surveys, but the original purpose and spirit of Amazon Mech. Turk was to provide a rate at least comparable to that standard."

This is within the context of the current conversation of raising minimum wage to match living wages -- I don't think people should be making $15 or more to fill out surveys. I wouldn't mind hearing the counter-argument to that though, my mind isn't necessarily made up.

I know that my average pay rate on here is between 8 and 12 an hour (and I'm picky on what I do personally) but because I do this and work on my day job (grading papers or participating in discussions) I'm actually earning $38-42 an hour, so this is supplemental and that changes my incentives. I don't know how many of you also do this, but if you use mturk for suppmental income, there is no reason to demand $15 and reduce the volume of work for others.

I'm not sure where you're getting $15 is the minimum wage? In Florida the minimum wage is $8.05, which I think is more than a fair expected average for "filling out surveys" (ie assisting in research) or any of the other micro-task batch work that is posted. Any research study outside of mturk typically pays $10/hr, so then why should I expect to only make less just because I'm providing information from the comfort of my home? That's just my two cents...

My resentment for and jealousy of people who work a wage job and turk at the same time is enormous. I'm sure it's miserable, but still.

$15 is the minimum wage in some places, though.

If I accidentally returned the hit, is it lost to me forever?
I did this, but I was able to open up the tab I closed from history and it continued from where I left off.

It's the only site I can go on besides the forums, gmail, and some of the news sites. Yes it sucks but it's better than reading spam mail or finding out useless info about Clinton or trump.

Well, I mentioned where I'm getting $15 from -- it's a fairly popular argument across the nation that minimum wage should be raised to match average living wages. I understand the argument that this is essentially independent data entry, but I still think there's a difference between filling out a survey about the best app icon design or random wall street predictions versus other legitimate careers and sources of income.
