This one *really* needs to say more explicitly that you need to be a current social media user to take it. I threw it back.

So I'm bringing this up in the hopes someone can help me see this a different way: I'm pretty on the fence about the whole TV becoming a monthly sub cost thing. I know there are reasons for it becoming a paid service now, and I have no hard feelings about that.

But I still find it hard to justify spending the money primarily because I'm worried that when it's no longer free, most people aren't going to fork over the money, and therefore the number of reviews on TV is going to plummet, thus making it a less useful tool.

If I KNEW for certain that it would become the gold standard for reviews going forward, and the numbers aren't going to drop drastically once it comes time for people to pay up, I'd happily buy in. I just don't feel very confident that's going to be the case. Am I looking at this the wrong way?

TBH, I'd still review (if it worked on my computer anymore, which it doesn't until I replace this POS...) even if I wasn't paying for it. Which I'm not gonna... I'm down to the penny in my budget, that's not something I can make room for in "hopes" that it would increase my income.
I still think the reviews are helpful, and I don't have a problem still doing them.

If it becomes unhelpful, then you can always cancel the subscription. I feel like more people will pay for it than you think.

Plus, hard work gets put into it, I don't mind helpin' em out a little bit.

I'm going to go ahead and support it b/c when I think about it $5/month isn't that much for me and I can afford to do it (With what some folks have said about using it leading to making more/hr anyhow, I figure it will prob/maybe pay for itself) b/c I like to try and support developers where and when I can. BUT I totally get everyone not going in for it. So far with the free key, I've liked it. If it stops being worth it, I'll cancel.

i don't think the number of reviews will plummet because he gave free keys to people who had over 10 reviews, so you'll still be seeing lots of reviews from people who already reviewed a ton

Same. A lot of development went into it. If it were more than $5 month it would be a different story.

I don't think that's an unreasonable way to look at it. I guess it's really just something that you have to decide for yourself though, whether you think the cost is worth it for you.

Personally, I'm not paying for it. I think something like that is best for surveys, and that's not something that I work on all that much. And when I do, I usually just get them from here or I can manually search them on the website. So I don't consider it worth it for me.

Trying to do murder mystery 3 but keep having no groups available. After like 5 minutes it tells me to submit the HITs, pays me 40 cents and pays a bonus of 40 cents. So I'm not complaining. But I wanted to play.

re: TV. I'm paying for now. I use HitForker usually for most stuff. I prefer batches but unfortunately surveys are a necessary evil. Once I have my other job going I expect to use mTurk less in general and focus on batches, so I might stop paying for it.

Similarly, I paid for Turkenator for a few months but don't plan on renewing it. I really like the statistics and wish I could have that separately. But it's not worth $10 for that, imo.

You can always wait and see? The website isn't going to change, so you can still go look up reviews and hourlys for requesters as needed. It's just the fancy graphics and "make your life easier" type tools that you're paying for. Give it a month and see if things are being reviewed to your liking? I've been doing it for free all along, and several thousand others have, too. But if it's not helping you earn more (ideally more than what it costs a month), than it's not necessary, anyway.

I admire your ability--under the circumstances--to say "Afternoon everyone!" with an exclamation mark! :)
I've read one comment on your post and agree ... you gotta get another doctor ( which is nothing you don't already know :) ). Pardon my French, but she seems like an asshole. The only thing you can do at this point, I guess, is just steel yourself to getting thru (lamentably) what ya gotta go thru, then make whatever changes you can make to get in a better medical situation. Sincerely wish there was something I could do to help. :) :)

 Ugh, I'm so sorry. I hate how compassion and common sense has been taken over by protocols and profits in a lot of areas. Maybe once you get through all of this, you can switch doctors. Here's to hoping everything goes as smooth as possible and you get some much deserved recovery and relaxation time! :fingerscrossed:
Thank you! And yes, switching doctors should have already been on my list.
