He had two large, 3-gallon buckets. He tied a rope to each bucket and handed me the ax. "You'll have to chop a hole in the ice big enough to get the water. Then you can fill the buckets with water."
I took the ax and the end of one of the ropes and started up the rickety ladder. Before I reached the top, one of the rotten rungs broke under my weight, and I fell to the ground while desperately trying to catch hold of the ladder.
"You all right?" Dad asked as I struggled to my feet.
"No. I broke my pride," I told him.
When Brother saw I didn't have any broken bones, he began laughing. "Why did you step on that rotten board? You should have known it would break," he laughed.
"Because I like to fall off ladders in a blizzard!" I told him, a little angry.
Dad spoke impatiently, "Shinny back up the ladder before we all freeze. The stock are thirsty." to be continued

i usually don't pay attention to commercials. but if you got cats, this is a good product to try. and yeah, it really works like the commercial says.

Out of curiosity I tried it and now it's a thing between Lionel and me. every evening he waits until i sit down to watch tv and he's there wanting his treat. and they really do eat it out of the package and are very clean about it.
