I really think the time period that I grew up in was the last mostly innocent/active. I didn't have my first cell phone until 16 and spent a large amount of my time outside in high school.

Things just seemed happier as a society back then.
A lot of that is the rose-colored nature of hindsight. Sure we had cool hair and music, but the 80s definitely had their problems. Can't really go into them since this is the daily thread and not the Thread For Such Things, but Google can fill you in if curious.
I'm almost a month older than you exactly :D (Jan 25th)
Yay, birthday friends! Happy belated birthday, in case I wasn't in here that day.

Be careful... you may have to explain what VHS is to the rugrats here.
vhs is still a thriving market in goodwills across the country.

pop... pop... pop up video.
Oh man I love pop up video. I had so many of those recorded. And i would stay up late recording music videos so I could transcribe them later. (I don't know why I did that.)

I really think the time period that I grew up in was the last mostly innocent/active. I didn't have my first cell phone until 16 and spent a large amount of my time outside in high school.
I find it really weird that my nephew (4) has had a phone for 2 years. Like I didn't get a phone till I was 18 and while now I never put it down I'm really glad I didn't have it when I was really young. I would have been playing on it instead of reading.
