It's been 10 days since I started working on HITs. There are few issues that I have been facing and I need help in solving them. The major problem I faced is qualification (being a non - US resident) and completing 1000 HITs. Since my location is India, there are very few actually good paying out HITS available and those HITs require masters level which I currently do not have. And regarding completing 1000 HITs the problem I faced most is that the requesters are reviewed as bad, plus it takes a good amount of time to complete those HITs for very low pay. So can you help me give ideas about which requesters HIT I should do in order to complete good number HITs quickly and also ask certain requesters to add India in their location qualification.?
I think safety, first (you need some padding before you branch out). So, pick requesters that won't reject. Even if that means taking on some 'somewhat' (but not too) crummy jobs.
You are right, most requesters at this stage are terrible. I don't know who is good for penny hits anymore. I wish I did. You might want to ask again in the daily work thread, at some point, and see if anyone has ideas.
Masters, just to get that out of the way, is probably a lottery (so, skill, attention to work, whatever - has no bearing). I've turked for several years, have 9 tiny, lonely rejections. No masters.
As for asking requesters to open up quals, IDK. Keep in mind that you are one of thousands. Mturk is never at a loss for workers. Even crummy hits get taken, in all due time. It never hurts to ask, of course, and I remember one worker on a quiet Sat emailing several requesters and asking for a closed qual - and they got it. I was surprised. So, you never know!
