I admit I can probably leave the chips out of Taco Salad and like it. I love the mix of beef, tomatos, lettuce, onions, cheese. I don't think well pulverized tortilla chips will ruin a taco salad unless you are one that needs large chip pieces to make the salad enjoyable.
It is like a tex-mex matza brei.
