I've never done it but the online ordering stuff they have now is pretty cheap.
Yeah unless you stupidly let them talk you into getting a pair at the optician's place cause they make you feel incredibly guilty and you have problems saying no...

Not that I recently had that happen or anything.

Costco has decent prices. I have a prism for my astigmatism so the price of lenses kill me.
Yeah, costco is great for that. I bought my contacts there and it was $40 for a 6 month supply! That's insanely cheap.

They messed up my exam last time and my prescription was way off, so being in the store to know that and getting it fixed right away was helpful, but if I had a prescription I trusted I'd do that.

Reading a menu at a restaurant while waiting for your glasses to get made is incredibly hard, though.

If I don't have glasses/contacts on I can't see anything clearly unless it's two inches away from my face. I tried to drive one time w/o anything and I almost died. lol

Create a Haiku
2 cents per haiku
no quals
thought it might help people release some mturk stress

edit: nvm these are in the instructions ha ha

  • use elliptical 'telegram style' syntax, avoiding words such as 'and', 'but', 'like'
    • a contemplative or wistful tone and an impressionistic brevity
    • are often divided into two sections, usually at the end of the first or second line, it is indicated by a kireji (it draws the reader back to the beginning, initiating a circular pattern)

lol no

I was actually really impressed with the guy who did the exam, he aimed a flashlight at my eye and told me to try and focus on the E while he flipped lenses, basically nailed my prescription just by watching my eyes focusing. So much better than the "how about this? or this? this one or this one?"

I'm embarrassingly close to being legally blind

without my goggles its all just blobs of color outside of a 6" range
That's rough. I was born with a pinched optic nerve. Used to have to wear eye patches to 'strengthen' my weaker eye. Not the cool pirate kind either. Luckily I had an amazing eye surgeon who fixed much of the problem. But I will always need glasses and someday soon the dreaded bifocals.
