I'm sure not the popular opinion around here but you could have handled that better and are dealing with consequences as a result. Keep calm and tell her that her thoughts on the matter are not welcome as she doesn't understand the situation. Her being bitchy shouldn't justify abusive treatment of her. Deal with it and express your grievances to her supervisor.

No, first of all, it's not her job to berate the citizens, she needs to take the money, and shut the hell up. She used her position in the City Hall, and her position on a mattress to be pissy that someone called her ass out on her bullshit. No average person would have gotten away with that. SHE was the one being abusive, using her power to bully.

I went in to pay the water bill, and I was a few days late. It happens often, my mom has cancer and hubby is on a heart transplant list. Anyhow, the woman behind the counter told me we needed to talk and I needed to learn to be more responsible and that I had a husband who should be taking care of his family etc... So I told her she was a bitch and I left. After a few minutes I returned to go ahead and pay. I told the lady that I shouldn't have used that language and that she shouldn't be so cnodescending and rude. That I take care of two chronically ill people and drive 6 hour round trips 3 times a week to take my mother to chemo and I do my best, responsibility isn't the issue, life simply is. She then said that I perhaps should have made better choicees ??????? now see, I had said I was sorry and it could have been done. But this woman had cheated with our city administrator who left his wife for her, so me being me I said something very vulgar along the lines of "well, we can't all hit the *(&^suckers lottery" I put the money on the counter and left. Then the police came to my house and told me that I needed to write a written apology or be banned from city hall. Poor kid blushed when he repeated what I said, but I told him I would not be writing any letter and that she was everything I said and more.

The first part of every month is worse than the rest of the month for me. I have to listen to all the reasons people can't pay rent on time and them beg me to not charge late fees. Then get angry at me when I can't waive them . It's a lovely time at work through the 5th (ish, later if that lands on a weekend or holiday).

Oh, and we had a craigslist scammer steal part of our company information so we started getting calls for a place we don't manage, and concerned/suspicious people when we explained it was a scammer, not us, who posted the information. It takes a LOT to get Craigslist to remove a scammer post believe it or not.

I understand that situation you are put in monthly, I got a little behind <no pun intended, on my HOA dues, so I went to ask for a few more days or maybe not charge the hefty late fee, they were unable to do that, so I said how about I dance for you in exchange for the late fee, they agreed so I went to my car and pulled out my pole and set it up at the clubhouse and did my crouching turtle hidden snake dance for them, at the end I actually made $3.77 in change. Butt it is always a good idea to try to barter, I wish it was like the olden days when bartering was very accepted

Just gotta say this after this shitty week at work: it depends on perception. I get accused of "abusing my power" sometimes because I'm a landlord and won't waive late fees, or I charge tenants for repairs they caused (e.g. their kid broke a window), or I tell them if they don't start paying their rent on time consistently I will ask them to move. On the last one I get told I am not allowed to "abuse my position" and tell them how to manage their money.

I'm probably just sensitive after a few tenants have been less than delightful this month (probably due to taxes being due?) and accusing me of "not understanding" and me enforcing the rental contract. Or accusing me of being responsible for the rising rental costs in this area and that "I shouldn't charge so much" but tell that to owners who know there is a lack of housing right now and rents have flown up (I do try and encourage owners not to raise rents too high for tenants currently in place because I really hate doing that as a fellow human being who works a full time job and ALSO mturk to make ends meet.)
