I find it funny that Amazon sent me an email this morning that a package will be delivered tomorrow via USPS. USPS never delivers on Inauguration Day in a normal year, so they definitely won't be delivering tomorrow. Luckily, its just catnip which my cat has enough of on hand already.
So "no snow, rain, heat or darkness" will stop a mail carrier from delivering the mail but a Presidential Inauguration will? :)

even without the craziness of this particular one, inauguration days have got to be crazy. i remember Rome and the Vatican during Easter and Christmas and how insane those two places are normally. I can't imagine how nuts DC is every 4 years. I'm pretty sure watching an Inauguration on TV doesn't even come close to showing that.
Yeah, its bunkers around here right now. The only time I've seen it anywhere close to this bad was 9/11, but that was a immediate crisis response and not a scheduled list with closures that are announced at least 24-48 hours in advance. While there's always a restricted area that you can't drive and/or walk, it's never been such a large area and for such a long time. Usually most bridges are open (for both incoming/outgoing traffic) and most transit stations are open - though some are entry or exit only depending if the Inauguration is starting or if its over. Many more stations are closed and for several days as well, including several major downtown transfer points and Union Station which is by far the most used station (due to it being serviced by commuter trains, MegaBus, and Amtrak).

i know texas just sent 1,000 national guard members and from what i've been reading there's many thousands more there already. good luck. hopefully it is quiet and the even goes off without a hitch and all y'all go on as close to life as usual possible.

Yep, too much of a traffic hassle and there's a security risk due to someone pretending to be a postal employee. Usually it's only the very close-in zip codes around the National Mall and I live in one of those close-in zip codes as I live less than a mile from it. This time it's basically of all DC that's getting no mail tomorrow.

There's going to be 25,000 total National Guard troops. Local city police will be all hands on deck and the alphabet soup of other federal police will be out in force as well. I worry about some idiot still wanting to do something awful even knowing that they don't stand a chance.

I always try and keep a minimum 2 month supply of groceries on hand. I have that now as my Subscribe & Save came through on Saturday with some pantry items and cat food.

Got a 5-star rating feedback on a UserTesting I did the other day. No notes on why they rated me 5 stars, but I was worried they would give me negative feedback as my cat interrupted several times with the song of her people. Maybe they got a kick out of her singing and me telling her she's not being mistreated as she got treats.

if anyone on this forum is giving this particular hit a bad review because you can only do it once per month, stop doing that. it is hit that belongs to a years long study of CrowdSource work and, yes, it can only be done once per month. not everything on AMT is something you can do every day or multiple times per day.

Popped into Safeway this morning for a some fresh produce, bread, and milk as I ain't going anywhere for a few days. Too much craziness here in DC and public transit is extremely limited bridges and are closed for in-bound traffic anyway. Going to spend tomorrow doing some much-needed pantry/freezer organizing. Also, need to harvest my AeroGarden and freeze some of the herbs as they are ready. Harvested some to use for a baked chicken and it was delicious.

I find it funny that Amazon sent me an email this morning that a package will be delivered tomorrow via USPS. USPS never delivers on Inauguration Day in a normal year, so they definitely won't be delivering tomorrow. Luckily, its just catnip which my cat has enough of on hand already.
I've always gotten mail on Inauguration Day...it's not a Federal holiday
