If anyone's read my mturk tutorial, they know I'm all about having a firm grip on the basics because, anyone can be taught a shortcut and use it. To make new and better shortcuts, you must know the route that you're trying to shorten. Someone was asking me yesterday if they should learn Bootstrap or CSS Grid. I said, CSS because if you learn Bootstrap, even though it may be faster to get a product published, if it deprecates for whatever reason, you don't have a fallback. Whereas, if you learn the basics(CSS) first, you can add any framework(shortcut) you'd like. But, if it stops working, you still know how to get to where you were going.
So, I know that I could do my last 2 projects, to get my certification, in about 2 days. That said, I can spend 4-5 days and learn probably double what I would if I just coded "to the test", so to speak. The one I'm working on now, for instance, I had coded enough to pass the requirements in an hour. No problem. But, I've been working on it for a week. Even though it looks the same, at a glance from the user side, the code is waaaay better.
Sorry to nerd out on you. I'll shut up now. But, I'm excited and, I don't really get much encouragement so, even the little bit from you made me perk right up. I'm rambling. I'll shut up now.

I like this guy. Every year he breaks down what you should learn and in what order. It gives a good idea of where you are at. I'm studying node currently but I can get carried away with Turking and not stay focused like you were talking about. I should have finished with node a while ago.

Thanks! I'm eating saltines and tapioca pudding... and drinking ginger ale. because my stomach decided it isn't really as better as I thought it was. It's like comfort food and drink from my childhood illnesses.

Thanks for the link! Are you on twitter? If so and you wouldn't mind a follow, pm me your user name(or post here, obvs). I don't know anyone else who's doing both learning and pro turking, like me, and maybe just seeing each other's posts would be a motivation. If you don't have a tweeter or don't want to share, I won't hold it against you.:wink: I know some people don't like their "streams to cross".

But, we're slightly unique and I find it useful to make those sorts of networks. I'm bad at social networking. Good at knowledge networking. I'm getting the opportunity to proofread a copy of JS Grammar(a book filled with diagrams and everything you ever wanted to know about JS) written by @js_tut, before he publishes it. If you want a free copy, he's got a list of people to which he's giving away a few copies on launch, with the option to pay(donate) if you want, before it goes on sale. Worth checking out, if you're into books.:)

You're likely better at pure css than I am.:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup: I've gotten pretty good with Materialize, I like it better than bootstrap. Unfortunately every hit is bootstrap.
