That is a bit rough but, you've just got to accept that you're gonna miss some things, otherwise you won't enjoy yourself when you do leave the house. imo.:)

EDIT I can think of 2 or 3 times where missing stuff has saved me from getting the same mass rejection that everyone else got.:D
I call that TURKFOMO (Fear Of Missing Out). It's hard to avoid feeling like you're missing out on something every time you step away from the computer, but you've just got to accept that you are just going to miss-out on stuff all the time, even when you're right there at your computer. I can't count the number of times I've finally caught some high-value HIT and get busy working on it, only to have some even more lucrative batch drop right when I'm in the middle of the HIT.

Also, you have to remember that when you see one, two, or ten people posting about some sweet batch that drops, there's probably another 100-200 people who missed the boat and are silent on the forums about missing-out. It's easy to feel like your the only one missing-out because we tend to accept the the collective voices of the crowd of workers as a singular voice, reminding you about all of the good stuff you're missing out on... But when you look at the weekly earnings posts, you realize that, yes, there are a handful of people absolutely killing it, but there's many more people who are just doing modestly well... so clearly everyone else is not catching each and every $$$ batch at the optimal times, while you're missing out.
Oh your both very right. I imagine the longer i do this type of work, the more i'll be desensitized to missing out on stuff.

Its rough though because anytime i decide to step away is normally when a good batch drops lol, i need to be able to set it up to get phone notifications when certain jobs pop up.
I try and put at least one full day aside to go do other things regardless of what is happening on mturk. For me, that day is typically Saturday, because aside from last saturday, every Saturday I've ever turked has sucked.

Sundays have traditionally been much more productive for me. I'm also starting to look at things different and when it's slow, shut the computer down and go do something even if it's only for a couple hours.

It's hard when I'm out not to check the forum on my phone, because I kind of feel lost without a hit tracker running...and just keep telling myself even if the most ridiculous batch in the world were to drop, no one would post about it anyhow lol. That actually helps.

So far i've felt that Sundays have been my slowest days. Having one day to just not even turn anything Mturk related on might be a good idea.

I usually try to go out and visit friends on Sundays as it is anyways, might as well just take the whole day off.

its hard to step away sometimes. since mturk is so unpredictable, but i just tell myself that’s how it always is. you can’t predict when certain things will drop most times but you can predict how to live the way you want to live. this has been PeachyRider motivational speaker. if you want more tips my inbox is open. 4.95$

Sundays are always slower. Also, if you rest Sunday, especially late Sunday when it gets even worse, you can get up early and get a jump on Monday. Just food for thought but, if I make more than $20 on a Sunday, barring any great, yet ill timed batches, I feel like I got a head start on my week and am in good shape to hit a weekly goal.

I'd have 4.85 if not for that survey too.

The rest of the week better be on point. Now I'm excited.

Hate to say it but, a solid Sunday. I've had Sundays where I was on for 18hours to have a PE of barely $10.
I was obviously doing other stuff as well but, nothing posted.

Taking full days off is important. But, on the flip side, on the days I take off, I still like to put in an hour, or 2, in the morning. It gets my brain working and, if I make $10, I offset whatever I spend on my day off.:bode:

When someone says "Thanks for wasting both our time!" and rage quits a negotiation HIT, I really hope I get them again so I can actually waste all of their time. So stupid. If you wasted 4 minutes on the negotiation and you're halfway there, no point in backing out. That doesn't pay anything.

This is just generally. No specific HIT content.
