Well that arcade was the gas station with a game room and they may have sold us guys under 18 cigs for less than $0.99 a pack in the very early 1980's, or not, since it was illegal...

We also had some larger arcades where there was no smoking and they were lame compared to the small cool gas station, when you were 17 - 18 and knew everything.

These were great because you could hide 'beverages" underneath.

Tempest is awesome, and so advanced for its time. My all time favorite is Defender though. Spent a lot of coins on both of them, at the arcade, standing up, where you could smoke and lay your cig on the machine edge, and see the burnt and melted spots where idiots who forgot about them did the same.

My love for arcade games peaked with Centipede. I loved that trackball. One trackball and one trigger button. That was the only game where I could ever routinely have a shot of getting my name on the board.
