The videos seem to be set to 0.5x speed by default. Old ones were set to 2x speed by default, which may be why the videos seem laggy.

Maybe, but some of the videos kind of stop and go even at speed 4.

may be part of it but there's way more jumping and buffering than there usually is. something's taxing their host server.
