Okay I think I have it on the desktop. Yep that opens it. How do I send it from there in my own email system from firefox? No outlook. Thanks much Sorry just never ran into this problem before. I'm in a hurry and confused.

Write your email, and then click on any paperclip looking thing or whatever says "attachment" in your email program. It will then allow you to browse your comp for your file...which you have stated now sits on your desktop.

Just naming it .doc doesn't mean it will go there. It sounds like you have it set up to save files to desktop...which is actually a good thing until you are done with them and want to move them to another folder for storage. It doesn't have to be in "Documents" to open, for example, it will still open up if you see it on your desktop.
