I have to admit, I am shocked to find out that survey completion code creation is a service and not simply part of qualtrics

There are free code randomizer thingies.
They must be assuming that the only way is Turkprime or some other bs that lowers our wages.

i know. I've had a few surveys that said to go to a site, get a random number, enter it in the field and mturk also

it's really not complicated
and as a worker, I honestly really don't even consider it when that task is put upon me; I've never even realized that I could charge the requesters...
