I think it varies from different areas of the country. It seemed to me when I lived in Texas it was around June 13. Then when I moved back north it was several days later. I was confused too and asked someone why it was like this. The answer I got was that because there were no direct routes of communication in that period of time, the days differ because of the flow of word of mouth. Don't know if that helps or not.

We didn't get mail Friday and I swear when I looked it up it said the Federal Holiday was Friday, June 16.

considering most fed holidays are on monday, yeah, that is confusing. i didn't realize there was an official holiday for it, perhaps in recognizing the time it took for the info to spread ???
