So with the crash and burn of my SSD this morning I went on a bit of a spending spree via newegg and upgraded my CPU MOBO & RAM along with a new SSD. Which got me thinking, considering my computer use is vital for mTurk, when filing taxes would I be able to write some of this stuff off on taxes next year as business expenses? If anyone has some experience with this it'd definitely be appreciated. As now spending the next few days waiting impatiently for my new toys, hope ya'll had a great day (edit: except for TobyF @TobyF )

I am not a tax professional.

I wouldn't do that, I stick with the standard deductions. Less likely to be audited

i missed the story of wats happening between u and amazon.
So did I, and they're so far refusing to fill me in on it.

All I know is my account was suspended because I put up a HIT for someone that was nothing more than a text box with a prompt that said "come here often?" I guess vanity HITs are a no-no now, idk. They haven't responded to me since I got the "we're not telling you anything, so please fuck off" email from them yesterday.

Yeah I mean, there's always risk of being audited which would certainly suck. I've got a tax pro in my close family I'm checking with as well and if they think it's cool I'll take the chance. Then I can yell at them if not. Figured I'd ask around here if anyone's had a similar instance they can relate to. No worries!

A few people have said yes, it's okay, a few others caution against it. One person said that in order to claim them, you're supposed to do nothing but work on the computer. So no internet searching, movies, games, etc. Ultimately, I'd wait for the person you know to give you some advice about it.

I'm pretty sure to claim home office stuff, in general, you need to use it primarily for work purposes. They're pretty strict about it.

Yeah, I could definitely see that being the case.

As an aside, here's how my day is going so far: PE: .65
Coffee dumped down the side of my face and on my chest - while drinking it just now.

This took 4 minutes going fast. (This is different from the other $3 one you might've seen)
