Post your favorite old time photos here. Keep them classy kids! They run a nice joint around here and we want to keep it that way! All photos before 1980 count as vintage. Please give credits to the photographers or links/attribution to the website whenever possible.

I'll start with a recently re-found female street photographer Vivian Maier. http://www.vivianmaier.com/

I just found this site http://www.vintag.es/

They have labels for a lot of years. Some of the photos are gorgeous. Some of my favorites.

These are just from the 1800's

THE 1800'S I don't know why that's so exciting to me.

Relevant! The New York Library recently released 187,000 newly digitized images to public domain.

An article about it: http://www.pri.org/stories/2016-01-14/new-york-library-has-just-released-treasure-trove-incredible-archive-images

Link to start viewing and searching: http://www.nypl.org/research/collections/digital-collections/public-domain
Libraries have the best online resources! Definitely check out ones in your area for local photo history too.

Other places to lose time:

Another silly one. Photographer unknown.

I hadn't been going to bother reposting this (shared it on MTG last summer), but since now there's a thread for vintage photos anyway, I just love this wacky shoe-testing contraption...

Neat piece of manufacturing history, for testing shoes:

An article from a 1930s magazine about this and many more testing contraptions for other types of products:

Torture Tests Tell The Truth: Ingenious Machines in the National Bureau of Standards help bring to light unknown facts about peas, pants, pots and paints.
