When I started turking decades ago, in December of 2015, it was simply to buy a decent gaming computer that would let me play games alright, but nothing too impressive. Coming from the world of surveys I had no idea how things worked or if I even would make any money at this, but from the start people helped me navigate the world of mturk. Finding good HITs, batches, installing scripts, giving me realistic expectations by letting me know no one has ever made more than $30 a day turking. I don't think I would've last a week if it wasn't for these forums and all the good people that I've met here.
After a couple of months of saving, waiting for things to go on sale, and researching how to do it, I've finally built my gaming rig. It's no gaming monster, but way above the expectations that I had when I started turking, as I was able to afford pretty good components.
Here it is, in all its glory.
When I started I didn't realize if you bought components of all different colors it ends up looking like a circus. Also the fan at the top has red LED's so it looks like there's a brothel inside my computer.
Anyway, I just wanted to thank all the people that got me to this point. Specially the ones who had tens, or even hundreds of thousands of HITs and who probably have helped countless noobs before me. You all own a little bit of the computer as well.
That was just a metaphor you don't own anything the computer is all mine.
