During winter months, snow, slush, and street salt may wind up inside your vehicle and cause stubborn stains on your floor mats. To remove the stains, mix a 50/50 solution of distilled white vinegar and hot water into a spray bottle and saturate the soiled carpet. Allow the water-vinegar solution to sit for a few seconds before using a scrub brush to remove the set-in stains. Air dry or use a dry clean sponge, cloth, or paper towel to soak up excess moisture. Repeat until clean.

I used to spill Diet Coke on the carpet almost every day when I was working for my ex-fiance's ex (but then current) girlfriend. They had this plush, white carpeting. I got it out every time. He used to get really pissed though.
