I've been on MTurk since 2005 but never had more than $10 earned until this week. I decided to play around and see what I could do.
I remember back in the dark ages, you could volunteer for psych experiments for $5, but you'd have to walk all the way to the building on campus and wait who-knows-how-long to be told you didn't qualify. Now I can do it all from the comfort of my recliner for a quarter.
