Maybe talk about it like a surprise doctor's appt. Kids can relate to dr's appts. "It's like if you had a surprise doctor's appointment. If I told you it was in 2 days, you'd worry about it the whole time, for 2 days. Then we'd go to the doctor and it would be quick and it would be over and you'd be fine. Buuuuuut, if I didn't tell you about t he doctors appointment, you wouldn't worry for 2 whole days, then we'd go to the doctor and it would be quick and it would be over and you'd be fine, just the same. Soooooo, if we surprise them, they won't have to worry about it getting closer."

Also, god is really busy so, he's not good at keeping appointments. So, it's better if we just use words like "soon" or "not for a while".
