So, one of my favorite battle scenes is in the 2nd Lord of the Rings film. The Two Towers. I talked to my dad about it when he was alive. He was a Vietnam Vet. He also liked it, and said that they did a good job capturing what a battle feels like. You know, minus the orcs and elves and stuff.

He was also a big fan of the movie Zulu.
The only qual I can find on those CIs is "InterestWorkersUS is 100." You don't have that??

Battle scenes. Best of which I am aware are in: 1.) Band of Brothers; and, 2.) We Were Soldiers (Mel Gibson)

Kudos to your Dad. What branch? What specialty? Where did he serve, and when?

And Zulu was good, although not historically accurate.

Apparently I don't have that qual.

Dad was in the Army. He was a spec 5. Served in Plaiku. Hopefully I spelled that correctly. They told him that he would be intercepting enemy radio messages. But, you know how that goes. He was in Vietnam for 19 months. I want to say 69-70.

Radio intercept. So your Dad was in the United States Army Security Agency (ASA) ... along with me. I, too, was a Spec 5. :) And he extended his tour (which is what I did): 12-month tour, 1-month of leave, 6 more months "in country." Neat. (I was over there May 1967 to Dec. 1968.)

Ever hear of the National Security Agency (NSA), maybe in the news?

Yes. From my dad originally. He only said that they're more secretive than the CIA.

I might have been wrong on the dates. My dad turned 23 in 68. He was younger than that when he went over. Could have been 67-68 also.

Oh, fuck off, you're still going to win. At least you didn't bench Mike Williams, and start Lamar Miller.
