Are you plugging it into a computer to charge it? I had a similar issue a couple months ago, except the orange light kept flashing. The only way I could get it to charge was to plug it into one of those little wall adapter things. After it fully charged it started working fine again.

Good call, I finally found a wall adapter. I should clean my house occasionally.
