Since it's Halloween month and she's orange - call her Pumpkin!
I thought about that! Also calling her Orangina, or Gina for short. We even considered Fanta since my son loves orange Fanta. But so far nothing is sticking.
If she's missing the tip of one ear, she could be neutered. The Trap , Neuter, Return program is a humane way to reduce the number of homeless cats...they are trapped, neutered and given vaccinations, then returned to the place they came from. There's more info on the web about it. It's a good thing. The cats here in Sacramento, CA are also microchipped with in the Humane Society's name.
She's so lucky you took her in. Such a pretty girl. She looks young.
They said she's about a year and a half. She is fixed (according to the shelter), and chipped (also according to the shelter). It's a pretty large portion of the top of her ear missing. More than I've seen with TNR programs before. She already has a vet visit scheduled for Wednesday so I'll let him tell me if that is the normal amount they tip off.
You don't choose them. They choose you
congrats!
Thank you! She definitely chose us. All the baby kittens were WORKIN IT, too. But I knew I didn't want a super young kitten. This one is already a handful . I can tell I'll have to work to keep her an inside cat as she is already staring out windows and at the screen door. She was a stray, so she is used to outside.
I did just drop some change on a cat tree that will lift her up high enough to see out a back window, so hoping that satisfies her. She's already scratched all over it, which is awesome. She's just a nervous nelly right now, to be expected for a little while. At least she's decided she can handle the dog already.
Now a name. Name name name name name. My other animals all have names that mean something specific to the animal (Dog is Odessa, after the poem the Odessey as we are her fifth family so she was on an epic journey to find her forever home. Cat is Lotta after the Lottery as I didn't think I could afford her when she showed up then I won $1000 in the CA Lottery a few days later and decided that was a sign.)
I think I just spent more on this cat than I have any other cat. Even got her a fancy ass cat bed.But PetCo gave me a bunch of free litter and free food AND 10% off the other stuff, so that kind of offset the cost.
