This week I did maybe 20 hours? It's hard to say because a lot of turk time is time spent waiting for work to show up. Typically I'm on the computer anyway for an irl job, so I'll do other stuff (or not ) in the meantime.

If anyone wants an update on the drug addicted homeless couple that I called the cops on (three kids under the age of 9).

She's also pregnant. Apparently, they did finally get investigated by CPS in VT and they screened it out ??!! It did not meet criteria. (He's a crack addict - not sure about her). The older boy went back with bio dad, but they are still living in a car with their two younger kids.

Anyway, I don't know how that happened. I'm not directly involved, so I don't have much power in this system. But I might try to do something more next week. (Living in a car is usually enough for CPS - drugs in t he car is even worse.......)

She's also pregnant. Apparently, they did finally get investigated by CPS in VT and they screened it out ??!! It did not meet criteria. (He's a crack addict - not sure about her). The older boy went back with bio dad, but they are still living in a car with their two younger kids.

Anyway, I don't know how that happened. I'm not directly involved, so I don't have much power in this system. But I might try to do something more next week. (Living in a car is usually enough for CPS - drugs in t he car is even worse.......)

I feel like this is such a huge crisis lately, I have read so many articles about how kids in foster care have increased a ton due to the opiod epidemic. i am in recovery over 2 years and it is heart breaking. Good for you for looking out! Hopefully action is taken to protect those kids!

i put this freeloading bum wanch out my house one time, and she called cps and lied said i was on drugs and my kids were not eating...they came to my house a few times checked my fridge and talked to my kids and dropped the case, never drug tested me though

and you had a roof over your head. This just basically got screened out with one visit (to the truck?!).
I don't know what they did wrong (the agency) in reporting this. It's unheard of - in all my years in human services. They are crammed into a little truck, with drugs, and spend their day at the 'drop in shelter' with other (mostly) drug addicts. We've had people OD right there -
I am just the volunteer - because, I promise, if I were directly involved this case would be picked up (I mean it. I'd be calling supervisors and faxing over documentation).
But......I'm just the volunteer.........
