Anyone between Beaumont and Lafayette needs to be somewhere else. As for us, had a rain sprinkle earlier. Little breeze. My city's citizen's alert system just notified me by phone that there's a hurricane warning out. They might be a bit backward around here.

My dad was a Coast Guard Chief engineer for years. He wouldn't get up outta his recliner for anything less than a 100 mile an hour storm. Let alone put up the storm shutters. But then he was the one who was on a CG buoy tender out in the middle of hurricane Carla looking for a fishing boat. That one really was a cat 5--over 200mph winds and covered the entirety of the gulf...We pretty much took his word for it about sea storms....... A 150 mph cat 4, like Laura is another matter. You don't want to be near water for that. I'm not near either. This time. I don't have to spend the night in the hall with a candle and a cat listening to the wind howl....I could go back to bed if the city doesn't decide to call me again and tell me there's a storm somewhere out there.
