I got a notification today that the SMS backup app I have that sends them to my gmail would also need updates to comply with their policies, seems like Google's doing a crackdown

I didn't see that. All the pork dishes I saw seemed to be mixed with 'offal' which didn't appeal to me. Also, there was 'pork belly' which I'm not confident that I know what it is.

Well, tbf it's no weirder than foods like rocky mountain oysters. Humans are higher up on the food chain we have been eating animals every which way for millennia.
