there's a number of things you can add to a peanut butter and jam sandwich to make them much more exciting

slice apples into somewhat thin slices and place them in the sandwich
or bananas
or strawberries
or just toss in a handful of blueberries

mix and match, if you're feeling especially wild you can even do all of them
