Today would have been
@Nikoratos ' 42nd birthday.
My kids would have yelled "turn off the lights!" before we lit his candles and sang to him. He'd have shared a shower beer in a really swank hotel room shower.
Instead, I'm writing this in his memory.
Nikk was unique and irreplaceable. It's impossible to sum him up in any amount of words, even though he was excellent at them.
He greeted everyone genuinely. He was always genuine. He meant what he said. When he spoke to a gas station clerk or cashier, he really did care how their day was going. I could always tell when he'd entered the grocery store after me because he'd cheerfully great people and whistle through the aisles. He was vibrant.
I know so many people will miss that daily interaction. People who probably never even knew his name.
He loved with his whole heart, unabashedly, and made me feel cherished and appreciated every single day.
Let's also not forget Charlie. Boo-bear, Chuckles. Nikk's Constant Companion. They were inseperable. Charlie always got the last bite of everything Nikk ate. His 10th birthday would have been the 16th. They always shared a steak together to celebrate.
When Charlie died in November, Nikk dug the most exquisite grave. He buried a 7ft steel plate as a grave marker so that everyone would know the best boy in the world was laid to rest there. He still ordered extra in the drive through and saved his last bite.
Please join me in keeping these two in your memory. Share a beer, a Body Armor, a McChicken, or a steak in their honor.
RIP, love.
