One of my coworkers was just drinking a beer at his desk yesterday in the morning and no one said anything. Have we reached that point? Coronavirus hits, might as well just start day drinking during the work week?

This was a LONG time ago, (we're talking mid-70's), my first FD had beer in the fridge and we had a publicly accessible beer vending machine 24/7. It funded the stuff the department would not pay for (uniforms, TV in day room, t-shirts, equipment). The statue of limitations has run out, so yes, Virginia, it was my idea.

My second FD had a keg in the dayroom provided by our union dues. Maybe it's just come full cycle?

Still, drinking at your desk ( I am guessing you work in an office?) at 10 am is pretty ballsy. Hell, at 4 pm it's pretty ballsy.

That said, I write freelance for a legal marketing firm. In their break room, they have a couple kegs of craft beer. It's kinda frowned upon before 4 or so during the week, but Friday is Drink Up Day. I work for a lot of techie firms, and the culture there is definitely a lot looser.
