I can't say whether it was what most used, but I usually ran 600ms as it did not PRE for me often.
I think everyone keeps theirs at varying numbers. Best is to experiment and see where you can keep yours at, as low as possible is best. But the more catchers you've got running, the higher your PRE so you might have to adjust. When I use it I normally keep it at like 900.

Which catcher you use shouldn't be too much of a difference if they're both set the same. But, you can't ping AMT more than about once per second.(1000ms) So, 100ms would just be a PRE loop and you'd get nothing.
