Not everyone stares at hitmonitor, and since quals fly by even if you did. You may miss it, or not do enough to be qual'd. So many variables to take into account, but the biggest thing is luck. Or perhaps you're fixated on a batch, or a survey, or eating breakfast, or shitting, or any other thing in the world.
I keep hitmonitor open in a second browser, in the background.
you don't need to stare at it.
it was a heck of a challenge getting it to work, i dunno why I had a hard time.
but the whole point of it is to put in your favorite requesters,
and when they post something,
GONG!!
then you look at other people's daily PEs that they post.
to find good requesters, also
- or to find out you're not able to do them, but maybe they'll post a qual hit
I don't need to have squatty post when the ocmp5 qual comes out.
I mean, it helps, sure
but I could easily just set an alert for the requester, and then every time they post I just check it out.

This is annoying for some requesters though, such as OCMP5 because they post batches all day long. If you hear an alert every time they post, it isn't worthwhile.

Sure. Everyone works differently. Just look at all the tools we have (HIT Monitor, HIT Scraper, HIT Finder, Panda Crazy, etc.). Some people love some of those and hate others, and also the other way around. Different people work different ways. Sounds like you have a system that works well for you! :)

because someone else keeps posting a hit with the word pinterest in the title
and for some reason it doesn't DING on the requester ID

It dings for you so no need to stare at it. Just have to do what the mturk gurus have been advising for years and years.

Never leave the computer. Ever.

If you can get that down, you're good to go

I need Squatty @Squatty ... I'm just sayin' :heartssuit:

I would actually be lost without this forum. There are definitely those here that look out for all of us and I appreciate that more than you will ever know :)

Or just use something like pushbullet... or C4C... or deluge (theres a number of tools they all aren't coming to mind)... to email or sms your phone when something you want to watch for posts. if you are really clever you might be able to figure out ways to automatically accept things you are intersted in without action from you, or to include an accept link in your notification.

if you're even more clever, you spend a long time writing a script that does all of that on your old computer, let that computers hard drive fail, realize you never backed it up, and don't care enough to try to recreate it :bode:

DCI actually has SMS alerts in his latest version of HM. Not really viable for catching fast moving qual HITs though, unless you happen to just be in the other room or something.

if you had emailed me about this, i could have put out one of my patented PSA posts to helpfully remind you to back your stuff up after the catastrophic loss.
