I stopped thinking about my hourly wage a long time ago. I make more money when I just power through and don't worry about it. I know I'm all about the naps and the wine, but when my husband was laid off a couple years ago, I was balls to the wall. I made good money.

I don't mean to denigrate the efforts of the folks who are writing the scripts and offering advice every day. Thank you Kadauchi @Kadauchi, Jaded @Jaded, aveline @aveline, @kryssyy, electrolyte @electrolyte . And if you say so, I'll take your word for it that this is easier today than it used to be. I haven't even been here for a year. I just don't think it's easy at all. This is hard work.
Turn all your scripts, extensions, and forums off for a month and report back.

It's still hard work but it's easier than it was.

Just imagine trying to do this without ANY scripts. At all. The only way to find hits is to manually search through Mturk. The only way to pick up a hit is to manually click on it and accept it. The only way to figure out if a HIT is worth doing is to do it.

Then add about 200 percent more HITs that were COMPLETE scams. Either the requester rejected your work, or they rejected your work and also it was a phishing scam, so they stole your credit card information as well.

There were no forums to communicate with other workers.

It's not even just the scripts, it's the entire community. It's really well developed now, but there was a period of time where it was just you and your computer and scams for days. This was before 6 bucks an hour was the "standard", so most people were paying less than that by a wide margin.

Turking used to be way, way harder, and also, a gigantic crap shoot in terms of whether you would get paid at all.

the people who can't figure out which hits are the scam hits on their own without the help of TO/forums and give login details, credit card infos, etc deserve everything that they get

That's the way I began turking though. I installed Hitscraper about two weeks in and decided that was impossible to deal with. I hated the colors and the deluge of just shit. I didn't understand that I could amend those things. I got rid of it. I didn't use any scripts for my first month and a half. When I hit 3000, I decided to try again. Mainly because I was reading the forum. So there goes that thank you stuff again, but, I feel that I would be fine without it.

I'm coming partially out of retirement.

Also, sports are dumb and boring.
Sports are one of the few acceptable ways for males to express strong emotions, declare their love and even cry. So shut up.
