Wow, I got the "you've already done" thing and I don't remember ever rating pet adoption profiles, so I looked up the requester in MTS and I had done a completely different survey called "Rate the Wrongness of Situations" back in November... Weird...

Thanks yeah it does. She's been Dad's emotional support animal for these last few years. It bites that he's probably going to outlive her because he didn't expect to do that. I'm afraid that when she goes, he's just going to give up.
Well, that's one hell of a situation. [sighs]. I've been working a HIT for about the last 2+ hours so am not up to speed, but ... any way to find some other means of emotional support. Probably would be hard as hell to do that now, I realize, but .... well, hell. There must be something that can be done, mustn't there be?

I'm not sure. Emotional support fish?? I don't foresee another dog in our future. Zoe was a handful before she started to slide, and she's 11. She tripped him up a few times because she was always running around his feet looking for food to drop. I can't imagine a puppy... I may need to start laying the ground work for this eventuality.

small animal? guinea pig or rabbit? cats are low key. middle aged chill cat that just wants cuddles? lol. or a middle aged dog that's already calmed down. many options.

Rescues always have dogs that have lost their people. It honestly made my heart soar to play matchmaker between dogs who outlived their people and people who outlived their dogs - a puppy, like you said, is a pretty bad idea, and a rescue can help match personalities and energy levels.

my goal is to foster for the rescue i got my dog from. Getting a dog out of a foster situation versus a shelter was such an amazing experience. Through lots of chatting and searching we found me the PERFECT four year old german shep who was good with cats. A hard feat. I want to help people do that.

edit: and my fostered dog was pulled from a euth line at a shelter. I just think you're more likely to be compatible with a dog that's been fostered and you know how it exists in a home situation. shelter dogs are so stressed out.

That's so awesome!! Fostering is best of all worlds. You get an awesome buddy whose food and vet care is paid for, they get a chill home life, it frees up a space in the shelter for another pup. WIN WIN WIN :celebrate2:
