Is one screen bigger? Headphone port on either? Those would be my only deciders, everything else being equal.
Good thought. Headphones on both, but I had to check. That would have been a deal breaker. The Air is 2 inches bigger than the Mini. But, I mean, they're kids with tiny hands, so
samsung galaxies aren't an option? :rain:
We have one of those and I hate it :bag: I use an iPhone and the husband uses... something Android... but I'm in charge of the kids' apps, and none of them switch across platforms :rain:

I just think, personally, that even though kids hands are small, fine motor skills are still developing. Maybe not. Plus, if it's for education, some stuff is harder to read on a smaller screen. Lastly, a larger screen comes in handy if they are sharing the screen, at any point. Sorry. Trying to be helpful.:p

I think the 'killer feature' of a mini is portability. If that's not a big issue for you, I'd go big.:)

Air 2 probably would be better for the following reasons:

- Has iOS 8 (mini 2 has iOS 7), so likely supported longer.

- Has 2 gig's of RAM (mini 2 only has 1 gig of RAM)

- Bigger screen (I have a mini 2 and a 9.7" 2017 iPad, I prefer the 9.7" and I have tiny hands for an adult)

- Better camera (8 MP on the Air 2 vs 5 MP on the mini 2)

Ask the children, then they can't throw a fit about you getting them this one and all their friends have the other one or whatever bs the kids might come up with to whine about.

OR the bigger screen for the bigger kid and the mini for the smaller, they never think that the other child has the one that belongs to them.

Thank you! :) I narrowed it down to these two models because they're both supported up through iOS 11 (so far) so they'll last us a few years, hopefully. Since you have both... you don't find the bigger one easier to drop, or step on, or otherwise break than the smaller one? :hilarious: They'll be in cases, of course. But... kids

Of course, the bigger one could be easier to hold on to, more robustly built to withstand drops and easier to spot before stepping on it. Lol. I don't think I'm helping anymore.

I find them about equal in terms of drop-ability. I'm pretty clumsy and have a cat that likes to get underfoot, so quality cases are important to me. That said, I rarely drop them.

I keep them in cases, but the mini 2 never leaves my desk. The iPad 9.7" I bring with me if I'm going to be running around to multiple appointments, so I use a much better case for it (Otterbox Defender). There are cases that have built in handles for kids, which may be better than even a more rugged case that are geared towards adults.
