wow... maybe I'm missing something, but I never really saw this place as cliquish or full of politics at all. Usually if someone posts a question it gets answered... and people help each other out.

The mods are all pretty cool and joke around with us and are involved with the fun, as well as posting good hits throughout the day.

Of course they get strict when someone goes against the rules or continues a conversation that isn't work related... and thats what they are supposed to do... otherwise the forum wouldn't be able to function as it should.
:yesyes: This is exactly how I feel too.
I am of the same opinion as you both.

I'm basically new here. I was here for a little while but had health issues and now I'm back again. So, while I don't know what's going on, I will say I appreciate everyone who does post the HITs, despite what they are worth. Now, most of them I can't do (either I'm too slow to get to them, or I'm somehow not qualified) but I appreciate all the work the posters do by providing them and I'm make sure to like all the ones that work out for me from now on.

I realize I'm small potatoes here (1400 hits, don't understand/get batches, basically hit whatever survey I can until I get my $20+ per day without investing too much time). I'm less than 100 posts and a hardcore lurker. I don't want to be a leech, so I will do my best to thank everyone and contribute in whatever way I can. I'm so thankful for this forum and, from what I've seen, it's been very warm and welcoming. You do good work. I like to think we are all working and doing good work, even if some of us are quieter than others.
i don't see size, so everyone's potatoes look equal to me

I appreciate everyone who posts HITs, times or gives other information. I have made more money from the information found here than I ever could on my own. Some things get posted that don't pertain to me but I can just skip that. I've made some nice virtual friends here too. I think we are a helpful bunch in general and I'm very thankful to all of you. :twohearts:

I just want to address a few things. We've been having some problems lately where people are complaining about certain things being posted in the work threads. Some people have been trying to discourage others from posting certain HITs, reporting their earnings, and even mentioning how many HITs they've done. All this does is discourage people from talking about work on a work forum and the end result is that people just end up leaving. It's gotten so bad that we've even had members requesting self-bans because they don't want to come back. All of this needs to stop right now. This is a work forum. it's okay to talk about work here and I don't want to see anyone trying to say otherwise.

Also, does anyone actually do the HITs that get posted on this forum? We ran a poll asking that sometime last year and I seem to recall that quite a few people did. I think we can be better about showing a little appreciation to the people that take time to find HITs for all of us. If you pick something up off the forum, throw that person a like or something. If we can all drop 10+ likes on random red panda pics, then surely we can toss out a like on something that's helping us get paid. I know it seems silly, but it really can make someone feel appreciated for posting something.
As for earnings, it's only helpful if you post the Requester Breakdown - so others can see what's out there and what to look for. Posting just a P.E. serves no purpose without context.

I have no idea what's going on in here today, but just posting this information on requester Blake Allan (my TO):

I completed this survey today and was not kicked out for any reason, but then I received a rejection because I'd completed it on July 11. As one with nearly 100,000 completed HITs under my belt, I don't always remember every survey I've taken. I contacted the requester and suggested he use a qual or ID checker for future HITs.

Editing to add:
The requester actually got back to me very quickly with this - "Yes, I have one in place, but apparently it's not working. MTurk technical support is dismal. I'm sorry you wasting you time and hope that you consider remaining in the study."

So he's punishing workers for a faulty system.

He then replied: "The last thing I want is to reject people and hurt their ratings. Sorry for the trouble."

Then reverse the rejections, sir.

Final message from requester - "Unfortunately, we are a non-profit with very limited budgets. If I approve your HIT, then I can't use that money to get another response that I can use. I can't use two responses from the same person. I don't believe you submitted the HIT dishonestly. But I really do need the money to get a usable response. Sorry your time was wasted."

Keep on your toes with this one.

When I was a newbie to turk, and new to the forum, I'll admit I used to expand humbleturker @humbleturker 's earnings table to see what requester batches he was doing, then set up searches for them. I learned quickly what was good /not good for me personally. It was a great tool for me as a new person.
