Lately, I've been trying to help get a new cryptocurrency off the ground known as Whycoin. It's main purpose is to benefit educational opportunities by offering a sort of incentive to learning in the form of tangible currency, accessible to any country in the world that has an internet connection.
While we don't have a proper distribution method (as such, the coin itself has no value as of yet), our webmaster and personal founder, Dusty Ridge, managed to create several minimal but completely functional websites for self-education via study sets, with Quizlet even giving us their source code to build all these.
http://whycoin.org/ Contains study sets for (nearly) EVERY spoken language on earth (Even Klingon for good measure!)
http://whyfund.net/ contains study sets for several college and high school courses.
http://whyfund.info/ contains all our information about the coin, including our mission statement, full disclosure of non-profit organization details, etc.
I'd HIGHLY appreciate if all of you that read this could spend a couple minutes downloading and unlocking a wallet so we can help stabilize the network that the coin runs on. As an incentive, I'm offering 1,000 free coins to anyone who downloads a wallet and replies below with their wallet address!
in addition, you'll receive 10% yearly interest on your held coins via Proof-of-Stake mining! Unlike traditional Proof-of-Work, it's extremely light on CPU! You won't notice a difference when it's in the background.
My goal is to get at least 100 people here set up with a wallet, but honestly, any amount would be fantastic!
Once we get enough wallets on the network, we'll start setting up more methods of obtaining coins, so stay tuned for the future!
If you have any questions, please ask! I'd adore hearing that you're interested.
