deer! and groundhogs. and rabbits They are eating my day lilies (not even the flowers, the stems are just starting to poke up through the ground). Last year they munched on my hostas all summer.
foxes, roadrunners. luckily no bears yet -- good precipitation in the mountains must mean juniper berries are plentiful to keep them in the mountains.

what did the fox say? 🦊

ok, should i be eating my rhubarb? internet searches seem to say no for the first two growing seasons and I planted from seed last spring, but i have three rhubarb stalks about 12 inches long and thick that it is tempting me to cut and eat instead of waiting until next spring for the third growing season.

I've never seen a bear out in our backyard - and I don't want to!
but they are there (people post pics of them from time to time on a neighborhood facebook page). TBH, my backyard is a 'bowling alley' - it's long, somewhat narrow - and goes on and on and on! So, while my house is up on a busy street (no bears up near the house) - out back.......they are there.......

is that ALL you have? 3 stalks?
The farmer's almanac says you can harvest (don't cut, twist) in the second year if you have enough stalks left to help the plant next year
