I think playing your guys all the way into the playoffs is the best approach. I'm not saying play them from kickoff to final whistle but play them. I think that's part of what made it so difficult for Peyton Manning to get that first ring. They'd clinch, rest the big contracts, get a first round bye, get hammered in the divisional round.
Eli never got to coast into the playoffs. The Giants went 1-3 the last 4 games in 08 and stumbled into the playoffs in 2012 at 9-7.
