I'm so jealous... I miss yard sale / thrift store shopping. Where I live now it's that one guy that has a permanent 'yard sale business' with broken TVs on the side of the road.
In our town, I get lots of crafty things (we're known for artisans, here - it's really big). But for clothes I drive down to Amherst or Northampton MA - the colleges down there support the thrift stores (esp. after they move out in the Spring). There's a lot here, though. I've done most of our house, now, with thrifted things - and some free stuff. The lamps I got last night were really lovely. Some woman got a pair of simple ones that were also nice, but looked like they came from IKEA or Target. These ones were really heavy - silver plated. (High endI'm so jealous... We used to get tons of good stuff in the rich neighborhoods in the midwest

It just what it sounds like - knitting in a circle! It's awesome for making tubes, basically. So you make most of your hat on the circular needles, and then you have to switch to something called double pointed needles when you want to start making it smaller and closing it up at the top.
I should go dig around in the basement and mail you all my knitting stuff... I never enjoy the process as much as I feel like I should. I just like owning hand-knitted things
