That's a lot of money! How much does it cost to buy one?
I think it's the same as a wood stove (about 3,000 or less). I *think* that they require me to get rid of my oil burner - which I don't want to do. I want to have at least 2 different sources of heat (so I can switch back and forth). The 6000 is for the whole installation and chimney stuff. I have that already (my wood stove has a separate pipe, which I think would be sufficient for the pellet stove.
My brick chimney is only used to vent my furnace - but that has been fixed, too in the last year (they had to drop a liner down in there - my house is really old!)

Yeah, having two heat sources is good just in case one goes out. I am guessing pellets are cheaper to heat than oil? Would they require you to get rid of your oil tank too?

pellets are cheaper than oil, but wood is cheaper than both. I am in town and on a main road, so my electricity hasn't really gone out for any length of time. But pellet requires electricity - and a wood stove, of course, doesn't. IDK how to decide. My understanding was pellet was REALLY cheap when it was new (it was just using sawdust waste), but after it became popular - the price crept up because people wanted so much of it, it has to be produced 'just for that purpose.'

Goodmorning.

I'm not sure why I am on. I haven't tried turking during the weekend in months.
Like savvy @savvylabell I really need to make weekly goals again, lol! I remember when my weekly goal was over $100. Might set it for $50 to get back into swing of things.

Tough decision.... then you'd find yourself buying a generator just in case... Are there stoves where you could use pellets or wood?

No, it's one or the other

ETA: I live in VT, now, so I really feel like I have to burn something!
