where I live, you can't find an apartment for that much. Everything gets rented for much more than it should - very, very, quickly.

OTOH, since I own my home - and have some space which I could convert to an apartment - my problem is that my state has tipped the scales so much in favor of renters......I don't want to. Seriously. It wouldn't be worth the risk. Most renters are great - of course - but if I got stuck with a mess, there is no way to get out of it (not easily). I know every state is different. But that's my state

It's truly insane , my sis in law just rented a 3/3 in Jax . Her rent is 2500 with a deposit of almost 10K and that's not even the best part of town.
