I can't think of anything particularly insightful, so I thought I'd leave it to Ernest Hemingway. He has a way with words.

"The world breaks everyone, and afterward, some are strong at the broken places."

I really like that. "A Farewell to Arms" is one of my favorites by Hemingway. I actually finished rereading "A Moveable Feast" this last month. He's pretty much a terrible person but I love looking at the time period and all the 20s writers from an insider's perspective. The story about F. Scott Fitzgerald is crazy.
